In 2017, I watched Hurricane Maria destroy my family’s island from 2,000 miles away with no way to reach them for weeks. The storm wiped out 226% of the country’s GDP overnight. Nearly every roof gone. Years later, people are still rebuilding and facing more frequent and more severe storms every year. That moment fundamentally changed how I approach energy work.

Over the past fifteen years, I’ve learned that organizations treating energy as a strategic asset – not an operating cost, don’t just save money. They build resilience. I’ve worked across thousands of megawatts of energy projects, and the difference between strategic energy management and wishful thinking is measurable.

That’s why today I’m VP of the Association of Energy Engineers Southwestern Ontario Chapter and host of Energy Power Play: The Sustainable Energy Leadership Series. I spend most of my time in conversations with the people making decisions: energy executives navigating Ontario’s Market Renewal. CFOs evaluating DER investments. Facility leaders rethinking demand management. Policymakers designing the frameworks that will define the next decade.

I’ve led business development for large-scale DER projects, launched energy SaaS platforms, and helped structure project financing through energy-as-a-service models that remove capital barriers. Because the biggest obstacle to decarbonization isn’t technology. It’s often access to capital.

Through my LinkedIn network, I’m also building a platform for these conversations. I work with people and organizations that understand energy is evolving faster than most realize, and that the transition happening now will separate leaders from laggards.
